Hi there. :)

I was just browsing through your stamps and I like them (and plan on faving a few more of them than I already have!), I just hate it when stamp makers disable comments. I hope you don't mind, but I had a comment for your "Teens-are-not-stupid" stamp because I relate to it.

I tutor kids here on deviantART who ask me to, and I also occasionally teach drawing/digital art workshops for high school kids. As far as the maturity thing goes, it seems there's no middle ground there; they either act completely grown up and mature to where I'm surprised to find out they're a teen (here on dA at least), or they act like they're twelve years old.

Online I've gotten the "I'm acting like this because I'm a teenager!" nonsense before, but there's another common thing that I've noticed from those same kids: they're actually PROUD of being ignorant and unwilling to learn!

I absolutely DO NOT understand that! Why on earth would you be proud of being an ignorant idiot? I've gotten that in response to not only trying to help them improve artistically but most often from them being factually incorrect about things and/or having no interest in reading responses explaining why they're mistaken on whatever subject it is. Just... why?!

Personally, I do know that there are very mature teens out there not only from encountering them here (and they're an absolute pleasure to teach because of it, too!) but also because even though I'm 30 now, I WAS one of those mature teens. My parents have always joked that I turned 22 on my 13th birthday just because I completely SKIPPED the whole typical teenager phase.

People online were always shocked when they found out my real age (particularly at 14... I think that's because 14 seems to be the magic number for stupid on the net in my experience) because they all thought I was 18 or even a "20-something". I never saw the sense in the way "typical" teens acted, and as a result I spent my teen years thinking most of my classmates were immature idiots for doing and saying the things they did. :roll:

Sorry for leaving such a long comment on your front page! I reduced the size of the text to try to save on space but I will understand completely if you hide this because you don't like how much space it takes up or you simply don't want it here. ^^;
